Privacy policy

MapleLens reads your screen on your own computer. It has no accounts, no ads and no server that collects what it sees.

What MapleLens does with your data

Your screen stays on your computer

The Windows app and the web app read the game's pixels to find tooltips, the Character Info window and your store. That reading happens on your computer (in the web app, inside your browser). Screen captures are never uploaded. The Windows app saves captures to a debug folder only when you start it with --debug.

What is kept on your computer

  • Your settings, including a Discord webhook, a Telegram bot token and a phone pairing key if you add them.
  • A cache of item prices, map data and pictures, and a log of your store (sales, chat, visitors).
  • The Windows app writes a log file next to itself; the web app keeps the same things in your browser's local storage.

Removing them is up to you: the Remove buttons, deleting the app's folder, or clearing the site's data in your browser.

What is sent, and to whom

  • Item prices: the list is fetched from MesoWatch through MapleLens's relay (prices.maple.observer), at most once every 30 minutes. Nothing about you is sent with it.
  • Ranks: when you open a Character Info window, the name read from it is looked up on classicrank.com.
  • Item and map pictures: fetched from maplestory.io by item id (or name) and map id.
  • Discord and Telegram: only if you add them. Sales and store openings are sent straight from your computer to your own webhook or bot. They include the item, price, buyer's name and your character's name.
  • Updates (Windows app): it checks GitHub once a day for a new release and downloads one only when you click to install it.

Like any website, these services see your IP address when you connect to them, under their own privacy policies.

Phone notifications

Pairing a phone goes through MapleLens's relay (push.maple.observer, on Cloudflare). For each pairing it stores a hash of the pairing secret, your phones' push subscriptions and the latest state of your store. That store state (sales, chat, visitors, mesos) is encrypted on your computer with a key the relay never has: only your paired phones can read it. Notifications pass through the relay to your phone's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) and are not stored. Pressing Remove deletes the pairing at once; a pairing unused for 60 days is deleted on its own. The relay writes no request logs; Cloudflare uses your IP address to apply rate limits.

The website

The home page counts visits with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and keeps no personal data. The web app, the phone app and this page do not. Pages load the Lilita One font from Google Fonts. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages.

Children, sale of data, changes

MapleLens collects no personal data to sell, share or profile, from anyone. If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page and in the project's history on GitHub, where you can also ask questions by opening an issue.
